Vision & philosophy

The Prince of Peace Catholic Community Sister Parish Relationship Committee (SPaRC) facilitates and grows the relationship between Prince of Peace and its sister parishes by promoting mutual sharing and spirituality. Our sister parishes are Resurrection Catholic Community in East Houston and Sagrado Corazón de Jesus (Sacred Heard of Jesus) in Santa Cruz del Quiche, Guatemala.

SPaRC believes in the dignity of the communities that we serve and that by going forth as servants we can better learn about our faith and share in the richness of our experiences. Furthermore, we are called to form long-lasting relationships built on the foundation of love, trust, and mutual respect.

Mission

our Mission

As Catholics, we believe that we are especially called to heed our Lord Jesus Christ’s last word to the apostles, to make disciples of all nations. To do this, we must be willing to listen to those that we are called to serve and to be willing to work with great humility. In this regard, we follow the Sending Out Servants (SOS) teaching philosophy - having the attitude of both a Servant and Guest, whose actions and speech embody a respectful appreciation of other cultures. This allows us to work with our brothers and sisters to grow the faith communities that they envision for themselves.

Our relationship with Resurrection consists of monthly joint activities which bring our parish faith communities together in fellowship and prayer. Likewise, SPaRC organizes short-term missionary travel teams to Guatemala that enable us all to come together as equals under the belief that we are all God’s children and each of us offers unique blessings to one another.

COVENANT RENEWAL MASS

JANUARY 26, 5:00 PM - MAIN CHURCH

COVENANT RENEWAL MASS, JANUARY 26, 5:00 PM - MAIN CHURCH

Prince of Peace welcomes Sister Parish, Resurrection Catholic Community, to the Annual Covenant Renewal Mass. The two Parishes come together to renew their commitment to worship together, serve together, and help each other in times of need, such as after Hurricane Harvey.

Please join Fr. John and Fr. Oscar as they concelebrate Mass with Bishop Sheltz and dedicate another year to "loving your neighbor as yourself."

Parishioners from Resurrection will join friends from POP at the culturally diverse Lunar New Year's dinner reception, which will be held immediately following Mass, in the St. Andrew's Discipleship Center. Come one, come all!

GET INVOLVED

SPaRC is constantly growing and evolving. Additionally, we believe that parishioner has a unique talent that can aid in our effort to be Apostles to our fellow brothers and sisters in our sister parishes. As such, we ask that you consider sharing our time and talent in glorifying God. Plan, develop, and implement spiritual and practical activities with Sister Parishes in Houston and Guatemala.
