YEM Spotlight

How long have you been served by/volunteered with this ministry?

6 years on the receiving end (if you include college), 6 years on the giving end.

Describe a time when you encountered Christ through this ministry?

When I was in high school, I attended a Power Hour for my first time. Power hour was a night where we worshipped and adored Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. At this point in my journey, I had not learned what the Blessed Sacrament is. But during that night, I met Jesus, and I knew there was no place I wanted to be but in His presence. I didn’t have to speak or pray any words. I simply just sat there and allowed Jesus to heal me from my sins and to love me.

How has this experience positively touched your life?

That specific experience at my first Power Hour and other similar ones have enabled my relationship with Jesus to become very intimate. They have given me confidence that God is with me even during life’s hardships and they have inspired me to bring my friends and family to share in those encounters with God.

Any other comments you'd like to share about your experience with this ministry?

Prince of Peace Youth Evangelization Ministry has a very special place in my heart. I liken it to Peter’s experience during Jesus’s transfiguration for me. As a youth, my experiences in the ministry have permanently altered the course of my life. It’s because of this that I came back to serve as a volunteer. I would like to point out that youth ministry encounters with Jesus are not only limited to the youth. I have experienced the repeated conversion of my heart as a volunteer and have witnessed the same in other volunteers. To be a volunteer, it only requires a love for God, and a love for the youth.
