Who We Serve

We serve pregnant women who are experiencing unexpected pregnancies, which may include difficult circumstances/crisis.

Our moms-to-be often feel the love of Christ when a "Gabriel Angel" helps them.

Our Angels will also provide help up to 3 months after a baby has already arrived.

Become a Gabriel Angel

Provide face-to-face support and prayer for an expectant mother during her pregnancy and help her find the support (material, emotional, medical and spiritual) she needs during the difficult times.

Time commitment varies depending on each mother’s needs, number of mothers in the program, and number of active volunteers.

Mother’s Day Baby Shower

Each year in May, our Gabriel Project Angels host a shower for pregnant women in need and their babies.

Parishioners are invited to show support by donating new or very gently used baby items. Some of the items we recommend bringing are clothing (up to 18 months.), car seats (manufactured less than 5 years ago), cribs/pac ‘n plays, toiletries, pacifiers, blankets, towels, crib sheets, Desitin, diapers, bottles, and teething toys.

Contact us if you would like to help with our next Baby Shower!

Baby Bottle Drive

Each year, in June, our Gabriel Project Angels host a fundraiser for pregnant women in need and their babies.

Our Gabriel Angels distribute baby bottles outside the church, and parishioners are invited to show support by taking one home and filling it with spare change, bills, checks or whatever they would like to include.

Two weeks later, the bottles are returned to the Gabriel Angels at the doors of the church.

This project helps to “change” babies’ lives!

  • Shadow a PoP volunteer as you give expectant moms spiritual/material help and friendship.

When We Serve

We serve throughout the year, dedicating our time and support to pregnant women whenever their assistance is needed during the women’s pregnancies and beyond.

Every year we have our Mother’s Day Baby Shower in May and our Baby Bottle Project in June.

Why You Should Serve

Because it allows you to support and assist pregnant women in need, providing them with the care and resources necessary for a healthy pregnancy and future.

Required Safe Environment Training

If you are 18 years old and above, our archdiocese requires all adult volunteers to complete safe environment training.

This short one-hour online training teaches people how to create a secure and protected environment for everyone, especially children, by recognizing and preventing potential risks or harm.

Testimonials

Fidelia Avellaneda: “As a younger person, I really needed help – I was not living a life in Grace. I kept repeating bad choices that led to bad outcomes. I would go to Sunday Mass all the time, but I was not healing because I would just arrive to the “hospital” (church) but would not see the Doctor (Jesus/God/Priest) and was not taking the “medicine” (Eucharist). Finally tired of feeling empty like something was missing with lots of pain, something needed to change. I knew I had offended God, so I went to the “Doctor,” the priest, and confessed. I was very honest and told him what I was going through. I started taking the “medicine,” The Holy Body and Blood of Christ. Just like an addict there were still struggles with my life choices. Thank God for my sister who advised me to help out serving in the Church as an Usher. I was a very shy and nervous person, so I refused. However, I would pay attention to them, they seem friendly and happy so one Sunday I showed up early to Mass and volunteered. My thinking was if I serve God then I am committed to Him, and I will not go back to my addiction/sin. This helped me and yes there were struggles, after all I am still human 🙂. While volunteering as an Usher at Prince of Peace, I found a card that read, “. . . if you are pregnant and need help, please call the Gabriel Project at 281-469-2686. I was immediately pulled back to my teenage years and remembered when I gave birth to my first son who is now 29 years old. I remembered that I was worried and afraid, I had very few things for my baby. I felt blessed when two co-workers brought me used clothes for my baby. At that moment, I decided to help the Gabriel Project and shortly after became a Gabriel Angel. Everything changed; I had purpose, and I made a commitment to the ministry which helped me to be more thankful, also helped me to learn more about my Catholic Faith and gave me the desire to be who God wanted me to be. The Gabriel Project Volunteer Angels are amazing! The whole community of Prince of Peace taught me and helped me fall in love with God, which changed my life! I love the Gabriel Project Ministry and everything we do to help our Gabriel Moms!”
