Vespers is an evening prayer service in the Liturgy of the Hours, traditionally held at sunset. It consists of psalms, hymns, scripture readings, and prayers. Vespers is a reflective service meant to give thanks for the day and seek blessings for the night to come.
All Saints’ Day, celebrated on November 1st, is a Christian feast day honoring all saints, known and unknown, who have attained heaven. It originated in the early church as a day to commemorate martyrs and later expanded to include all holy men and women throughout Christian history.
All Souls’ Day, observed on November 2nd, is a day dedicated to praying for the souls of the faithful departed who are in Purgatory, awaiting purification before entering heaven. It follows All Saints’ Day and emphasizes the community of the living and the dead, united through prayer, with special masses and prayers offered for the deceased.
