Parish Brown Bag Lenten Project Benefits Four Important Houston Area Organizations
Parishioners of Prince of Peace received brown bags on Ash Wednesday to begin our Parish’s Lenten Almsgiving project. During Lent, parishioners were invited to pray for four very important organizations/ministries which were highlighted in each brown bag: Magnificat House, Inc., Obras Sociales de San Hermano Pedro (hospital and orphanage in Guatemala), the Galveston-Houston Archdiocesan Correctional Ministries, and Blue Star Mothers (Remembering our U.S. military, overseas and our Veterans). Parishioners were also encouraged to place a gift(s) inside the bag. Example prayers and gift suggestions were listed. The brown bags were turned in on April 1 & 2. If you forgot, please turn in your brown bags ASAP to Parish Office.
This Lent, practice Almsgiving, Intentional Prayer, and Mercy through the Brown Bag Lenten Project:
Pick up a Brown Bag at the completion of Ash Wednesday Services or after Mass the following weekend. (Call Susan Gallagher at 281-571-4136 if you still need a bag).
Read the packet! Complete instructions and information is ready for you!
During each of the four weeks during Lent, leading up to Holy Week, Pray for the “Charity of the Week” and learn about how they serve people in crisis/need (who are sometimes poor, and who are sometimes poor in spirit; lonely or sad).
At the end of each charity’s designated week, select an item(s) from the needed list of items for each charity and place your donation(s) in the brown bag.
On March 13, return your bag(s) to the Community Center Gymnasium (volunteers will be waiting to receive your donations after Mass).
On March 15, come to the sorting event at 6:30 in the Community Center Gymnasium – it can be lots of fun to work on something, that will help so many people, alongside other POP friends!
Rejoice on Easter Sunday for a Lenten journey that was well done, worthy servant of the Lord!
