Each year, approximately 425 needy families are adopted through our Mercy Ministry's Adopt-A-Family Christmas program. Christmas gifts are provided for the children and food for a traditional holiday meal is provided for each family.
Please help the children of a needy family enjoy a blessed Christmas by providing toys, games, clothing, books and more this Christmas. If you would like to get involved but are unable to volunteer or adopt a family, you may also donate funds to the program instead.
We Can't do it without you
Phase I: Enrollment - In the enrollment process, families are interviewed to determine their eligibility and record their desires for gifts for their children. There are also volunteer opportunities for handing out program information at the Adopt-A-Family Program Fellowship Sonday table.
Phase II: Adoption Weekend - In the Community Center before and after all Masses on November 17 & 18, 2018, parishioners select an enrolled family to purchase gifts for and provide a gift card for their holiday meal. Family names are anonymous. Family size and gift ideas for the children are provided.
There are also volunteer opportunities for handing out program information at the Adopt-A-Family Program Fellowship Sonday table.
Phase III: Distribution Day (Gift Drop Off and Pickup) - In the morning on the 3rd Saturday in December, parishioners bring their gifts. In the afternoon, adopted families pick up their gift. It is a full day at the Discipleship Center with many different volunteer positions from food service for volunteers to gift distribution to traffic control. There are also volunteer opportunities for handing out program information at the Adopt-A-Family Program Fellowship Sonday table.

Qualifying for Adopt-A-Family
Our Adopt-A-Family Christmas Program can help make Christmas a little easier by providing gifts for the children and food for the family’s holiday meal. If you are struggling financially due to loss of income, medical issues, homelessness, and/or personal emergency situations, please consider Prince of Peace Catholic Community’s Adopt-A-Family Program for Christmas assistance.

To be eligible to register
You must either be an active registered member of Prince of Peace or live within our program’s zip code boundary (77064, 77065, 77066, 77068, 77069, 77070, 77014 and NW corner of 77040). Only family members physically living in your household are eligible to participate. Families are only able to participate in the program twice. Two families residing under one roof will be considered one family
Enrollment interviews are held in the month of October. Contact the Mercy Ministry for dates.
What you need to bring
- Proof of Identification: Your identification must display your name and current address. Examples include: Driver’s License or other Photo I.D. w/ Current Address. I.D. for all household members (examples: birth certificates, school records, etc.)
- Proof of residency for all members living in the household (examples: lease agreement, school records, electric or telephone bill, etc.)
- Proof of Household income for the last 30 days.
- Clothing & shoe sizes for all children.
