When We Meet

We meet weekly during the school year:
Tuesdays from 6-7:45 pm in the Fr. Ryan Stawaisz Community Center in Spanish

Wednesdays from 6-7:30 pm in the Fr. Ryan Stawaisz Community Center in English and 6-7:30 pm in Room 108/110 of the St. Joseph Center in Spanish.

Why You Should Attend

Because it will help you grow in your own faith, gain valuable knowledge and resources to raise your children in a spiritual way, and build a supportive community with other like-minded parents.

Read How Parents' Lives Have Changed Through Our Parent Cafes!

The Parent Cafe has been helpful as a way for us (parents) to grown in faith while our children are doing the same. Lead by example… Another valuable aspect to the Parent Cafe is the speaking point and small group discussion provides the ability to learn from others experiences and others to learn from ours in small group discussion. It also helps refocus our lives in the middle of the week.

Being a parent of teens you always have that self doubt if you are doing enough in the faith formation of your child. Going to Parent Cafe made me realize other parents had that same doubt. Parent Cafe helped open up a better communication with my teens regarding our faith. My teens felt more comfortable, talking and displaying their confidence in their faith in public, which as a parent helps you realize that you are doing the right thing. The Parent Cafe not only helped my personal faith formation with God, but also with my family and my community. I would like to invite and encourage all parents to stop by and have some coffee with us.

First and foremost I’d like to thank the parent cafe volunteers and the entire community for helping us parents learn more about our faith. My experience with the Parent cafe meetings were phenomenal very encouraging and motivational. I learned a lot on how to communicate with my children and teach them about our faith. Also learned about the traditional seasons the church celebrates! Very rewarding to be a part of this community can’t wait to be back!

We live in a fallen secular world all while our hearts are wired for the warmth and light of Jesus. The closer we stay to the light through regular mass, confessions, Eucharistic Adoration, and people sharing our beautiful faith, the more alive and intentional we become as mothers and fathers in instilling the Catholic faith in our children. We simply need each other. I have thoroughly enjoyed Parent Cafe at Prince of Peace! Royce and I learn and bring home something rich & beautiful about our faith every time we go!

Expectations

Parents are expected to come every week during their child’s faith formation time either as a volunteer or as a participant in our weekly Parent Cafe Session.

Parents as the Primary Educators of the Faith

Because our Catholic faith is best learned and practiced within families, the Church calls parents to be the first and most important teachers of their children.

To help parents teach the faith to their children, we offer weekly Parent Cafe Sessions, a time when parents can learn how to pass on their faith to their children through presentations, small group discussions, as well as take-home resources.

It is our hope that our Parent Cafe sessions can address the decades of large numbers of young people leaving the faith (see statistics here).

If you have a conflict that prevents you from attending Parent Cafe sessions, please contact the appropriate staff member or volunteer to discuss other options.
